Today’s review is a little bit different, yes it is an electronic gadget. For those who associate electronic stuff with the same enthusiasm towards “covered in bodily fluids” can perhaps read my earlier posts. But yes groomies, I have finally caved in after month’s of hemming and hawing and purchased this Clarisonic Mia Sonic Skin Cleansing System.

A one button, one speed travel sized facial brush of the original is the Clarisonic Pro/ Plus model, this charges magnetically and cleanses the face using the same sonic vibrating technology. Serums and creams that follow after are better absorbed thus improving their effectiveness. Time efficient too, as all the cleansing is simply done in 60 seconds flat.

Now, the Clarisonic mia does not come with an automatic beeper unlike the pro/plus models but honey I’ve been to school and its not really that hard to count to sixty. I normally apply a dollop of my (beep) cleanser (top secret! Will share soon as I have been reviewing a multiple bunch of cleansers with this brush) and lather up another dollop on my face. It’s quite idiot friendly as all I had to do was press the “on” button (ooo, it hums) and press it on my face. Now the trick is not to exert too much force as pressing it too hard kind of scratches the skin and pressing too lightly does feel like I am tickling the skin as opposed to cleaning it. But once you get past the pressure issue, just move the brush along the different facial zones, 20 secs on forehead, 20 secs on the chin and 10 secs per cheek. It was easy peasy, I did it without any hassle on my maiden voyage with this.
Verdict: Now, this honestly has improved my skin to a whole other level, its pretty pore less, clearer and brighter. But I did experience a horrid skin purging experience with this where I broke out in cystic acne on the chin, cheeks and jawline for approximately a good 3 weeks before things cleared down.(Could be all the nasty stuff coming to the surface.) Also, using it twice a day somehow left skin feeling raw as opposed to refreshed hence I use this thrice a week on alternate days for now whenever I am in the mood for that deep clean feel. (I am tempted to do the typical :” oh this is my holy grail or HG must have” response)
On the whole, I will repurchase this as I truly am reaping the benefits of sonic cleansing. Smaller pores, better skincare absorption and a nice lit from within glow. Recommended as a very good Christmas present and for all skin types as there are different brush heads for every type of skin.
