Mario Badescu Drying Lotion

24 May

An interesting product this is, Mario Badescu’s Drying Lotion. Packaged to look a bottle of calamine lotion, I honestly did not want to like it because it costs like S$69 bucks a bottle at Sephora. Steep!

A pink and yellow lotion formulated with salicylic acid, calamine and other quick drying goodness, the drying lotion claims to shrink ugly whiteheads overnight while you sleep. It also claims to be safe and effective for all skin types minus the irritation and drying effect delicate and sensitive skins often experience.

My good friend told me never to shake its contents. Once shaken, the product loses it effectiveness as the pink and yellow solution will never separate. Technically, you are supposed to use this as the last step in your skincare regime. Just dot a small amount of the pink sediment onto the zit and you are done.

Well in my case, I dipped a cotton bud into the solution. And dotted the pink sediment onto the annoying pimple. I was in for a rude shock. A stinging and biting sensation occurred and it took tremendous will power not to scratch and pinch the pimple. I was practically grinning to bed due to the itching.

In all honesty, I have this love hate relationship with this product. It works effectively on pimples that appear on the upper region of my face (nose, forehead) however; it burnt and erupted cystic acne on my skin along the jaw line and cheeks. Nevertheless, it does effectively shrink a zit to half it size overnight.

Verdict: This product did not blow me away. Does the job of shrinking pimples and zits, but I advise those with sensitive skins to tread with caution. However, I discovered it’s a great lotion for taking that itch out of mosquito bites.
