Nivea Body UV Whitening Serum SPF 22

31 Aug

I have been buttering myself liberally with this Nivea Body UV Whitening Serum SPF 22 as the weather has been somewhat cooler then usual and it’s a perfect time to whiten up those body parts for Christmas (I’ve always played with that fantasy of chestnuts roasting by the open fire and me fair as snow beaming in the warmth).

A 14 day intensive body whitening serum with SPF 22, it penetrates deeply into the skin cells to repair deeply accumulated sun damage and skin dullness. Containing Soy Protein Peptides and Vitamin C, this lightweight serum will promote an even skintone that is fair, light and radiant with its non-sticky formula.

Firstly, I like that it is lightweight but oh the smell of this is classic Nivea as it tends to turn up a little sourish smelling. On the first application I was pretty impressed straight away as the skin seemed to soak this up like a sponge and looks ever so dewy. It does preserve my current state tea coloured skintone but it does work as I noticed this does help lightened whatever sunspots I got to a lighter shade of brown. (Yes, they look like banana spots. Be warned, they show up more with age).

Verdict: Top marks and economically priced skin lightening serum. It’s a nice hybrid of a treatment and sun protection fluid in one. Great for reversing an ex-sunworshipper’s skin from tanned to beige (I won’t say fair unless you, my dear groomie is fair skinned to begin with).

Nivea My Silhouette! Slimming & Reshaping Gel-Cream

7 Aug

Hello Again Groomies, I was away for a while curled up under the covers and catching up on my Taiwanese dramas. Perhaps all the late night dramas, (plus I got off the exercise bandwagon for almost a week) I could almost feel the waist and thigh applause coming back to haunt me on day two. (Gasp Shock Horror, I promise I will exercise tomorrow again) However, I do have a valid excuse for my complacency and that lies in a green tube of Nivea My Silhouette! Slimming & Reshaping Gel-Cream.

A green hued gel cream that firms and redefines body contours, My silhouette contains Natural Bio Slim Complex( apparently white tea and anise extract make up part of this patented technology) to tone up and refine the areas of the body that are slacken. Applied twice daily, this gel will firm and tightened up skin leaving it more elastic!

First, this green gel smells citrusy and light and I applied this first thing after my morning shower. A few rubs was all it took to allow the cream to sink it (great for the early morning dash out to work). No stinging or burning encountered with this! However, I do notice this product does work wonders on slackened skin because on day three, I noticed my butthighs (that’s butt and thighs combined together) looked tauter and firmer. (read this as less wobbly and jiggly). Stretch marks seemed to be less severe on day 5 of using this as they looked less slacked and flattened out in appearance. A wonder product in my boudoir (for now), its no wonder this is always out of stock!

(ps: this helps flatten a bloated tummy too! Just rub it in a clockwise motion! Gushes)

Verdict: A great lazy man’s (or woman’s) cream to help maintain your figure during those blah weeks when you can’t be bothered to hit the gym. Recommended for groomies who need a lil flattening and retauting, this product is for you! Do grab it quick as I repeat, its always out of stock!

Nivea SOS Relief Body Lotion

15 Jun

It was around 7pm, I just had dinner with the editor-in-chief and was making my way back to the office, the streets were crowded and yes. I was not alone. Wait, did I hear something? A distress signal! Was that a cry for hydration? I proceeded into Watsons to transform into the grooming editor, picking up a bottle of Nivea SOS Relief Body Lotion before I leaped into the crowd in search of that distress call.

Super hero fantasies aside, this is a not bad body moisturizer to buy if you are in the mood for an impulse purchase. It smells different from the usual petroleum-ish smell normal Nivea lotions have. My good friend Google told me this lotion is suppose to provide instant relief and moisture while helping the skin to repair and protect itself.

Well dear groomies, after using this for a good 2 weeks, I rate this lotion as one of the better Nivea lotions on the market. It penetrates and absorbs quickly and leaves this nice sheen on legs and arms without that industrial grease sheen (My bed sheet nods in agreement). Plus I somehow developed this liking for the way it’s fragranced, very nutty and shea buttery kind of smell.

Its good for normal skins (like mine) but I do advise those with dryer hides to try body butters as this may not be sufficient enough.

Verdict: For groomies in search of the next impulse purchase, it is great as an office lotion. Recommended for normal to slightly dry skin types. It delivers all the moisture needed without that sticky-ness of an annoying ex.

Nivea SOS Relief Body Lotion retails at S$7 (yes indeed) at all Watsons Personal Care Stores
