Sephora Instant Moisture Mask

18 Jan

Gawd. Merciless sun and heat sighted. The weather has been so hot I am melting into a pile of mush. Too bad fat still clings on me stubbornly though. Anyways, I have been keeping my skin soothed and well hydrated with this Sephora Instant Moisture Mask.

Marketed as a ten minute DIY (do it yourself) mask, it hydrates the skin with the same HydroSenn+ ingredient found in the Sephora Supreme Cleansing Foam – all in one cleanser. The au naturel’s rejoice as this comes free of parabens, sulfates and stuff. Comes in a pack of four masks (or treatments if you are feeling nitpicky with moi).

I do admit the shaker does excite the alcoholic in me (joke!) with its all pink and martini shaker resemblance. (Or to quote the bestie Mr M, “ Since when did Sephora carry martini shakers? Buy it Kenny, you know you want it..it’s Sephora…” ). Simply feel the water up to the indicated line, toss in the contents from the mask sachet and shake vigorously till a thick gooey mixture is obtained. Invert the shaker so the contents end up in the black cap and proceed to apply. I normally use an (CLEAN) old foundation brush for this to get it all evenly applied. Texture wise, it reminded me of the laneige water sleeping pack only stickier. As there was enough mixture for two, I applied it all the way down to the neck and boobs chest (waste not and more is more theories banging around my head). Very cooling and soothing, it lessens after sun redness and that dread “raw” feeling. Perhaps its me, skin does look way brighter and radiant with a soft well-rested appearance.

Verdict:
Wonderful after sun soother, this mask calms and softens post sun exposure skin. Great for boosting moisture levels in skin, it makes a fun girlie treat with a friend, as there is enough for two in a single serving (all right all right treatment!)

Sephora Supreme Cleansing Foam – all in one cleanser

22 Sep

I am down with flu as I lie in bed sneezing and wheezing germs aplenty over my iPad while writing this review. I feel ashamed for missing a post yesterday, so do forgive me. Now where was I (damn antibiotics leaving me groggy), today’s review is on the Sephora Supreme Cleansing Foam – all in one cleanser.

A foam wash (yes real foam!) that tones skin while removing traces of makeup and grim, this foam wash is free of parabens and nasty stuff (well, if you really are nitpicky, it is free of sulfates, dyes etc) and contains a plant origin extract called HydroSenn+ which leaves skin comfortable and soft without that dreaded tight feel.

I normally use a good 3 pumps of this cleansing foam, which by the way is soufflé light and smells very oceanic (the closest description I can give you is probably a cross between cucumber and the scent of the sea). I do admit I was quite skeptical of its makeup removing claims but it does pack a punch removing everything (which is of course, SPF and BB cream) while giving skin a supple bounce. However, me being the ever-paranoid person (even in my delirious antibiotic state), I tend to do a double cleanse to my face with another 3 pumps of this foam just to make sure everything is removed.

Verdict: Skin feels supple and looks lit from within even after two rounds of cleansing with this. No adverse reactions with this one. Great for light makeup removal but those with a little bit more Glam (makeup) on their faces could use a separate makeup-removing sidekick.

SEPHORA Cellulite Massager

16 Aug

Today’s review comes in a form of a nifty tool (I was tempted to say gadget but this does not run on batteries nor does it vibrates.), the SEPHORA Cellulite Massager. I was bought it on a whim on day after a photoshoot as some models apparently swore to me this helped them in their quest for less dimply thighs.

Designed to be used on the hips, thighs and belly. This tool will bust cellulite and aid you in achieving a slimmer and shapely figure by increasing blood circulation and smoothing the look of the infamous orange peel skin.

After applying a substantial amount of cellulite/firming/whatever you’ve got cream, I would slip this on my hand and massage the cream in little circular motions. This circular motion ensures the rubber nodules on the massager help decongest fat and toxins to aid them to be reabsorbed and expelled out of the body. A good 5 minutes (for each thigh please!) later, switch from circular movements to sweeping movements. I would glide this from the knee towards the hips in a upward sweeping manner to help tone the contours of the thighs. This little nifty trick does help with dispelling water retention too. No flying projectiles encountered while using this, as the handle fits snugly in my arms amidst the overzealous and vigorous massaging.

Verdict: If done daily, this massager will enhance the effectiveness of whatever cellulite/firming cream you got. Every Groomies must have item if they desire glowy and less spongy looking thighs. It does resemble some sort of device a Domanatrix would use on her victims, but rest assured this tool does not fall in the “no pain, no gain” category.
