GNC Taut Gold Standard Collagen Infusion Mask

17 Jan

As the dreaded day approaches (my 30th birthday), I have been testing out various glow potions and firming solutions (I do give each product a one week slot just to be fair, no single use reviews here at the grooming editor). However, this GNC Taut Gold Standard Collagen Infusion Mask somehow rose above the pile of products.

Drenched in concentrated premium collagen essence, this intensive mask smoothens out deep lines while boosting moisture levels. Taking its effectiveness up a notch, it also brightens and even out dull skin tone and discolorations. 10 minutes is all it takes for it to work its firming, hydrating and brightening magic.

It’s very very (to the point of dripping) drenched in essence. The sheet mask quality is definitely a premium one as it does not tear easily. Quite a good fit (like a bra that is if I ever wore one). I left it on for 15 minutes (well, its all about stretching the limits, here at thegroomingeditor) and proceeded to massage the goodness in. Skin looks very refreshed and taut(pun so ever intended), I felt like a soaked sponged all puffed out and filled (in a good way, non of that water retention nonsense where your face looks bloated). Does give skin this firmer feel as if all the hallow pockets around the cheek area have been reawakened and refilled. And yes, skin glows candlelight soft  with this mask (if you get my exaggeration.)

Verdict:
If you are suffering from sluggish saggy skin or facial volume loss, this is a good mask sheet to use as a buffer if going for fillers is not your thing. Otherwise, it makes a good after work treat. I would caution avoiding the eye area as the serum does sting a little if it gets in the eyes.

Kitoko Kalani Sake Yeast Face Mask

7 Nov

Ah yes, if you noticed my posts have been trickling down of late, its due to the fact that I, the grooming editor (by day, an actual Creative Director) have been working on the Christmas Issue of T3 Magazine, nono, I ain’t gonna kiss and tell what the content and which piece of gadgetry is gonna make it in but I do promise you guys an odd review every now and then. Speaking of which, I realized I’ve haven’t done a mask review. Hence, I do one on a constant SOS mask of mine, the Kitoko Kalani Sake Yeast Face Mask.

This mask replenishes moisture and aids in the restoration of skin by nourishing it with naturally occurring Sake Yeast Enzymes. With soothing Aloe Vera Extract thrown in the mix, free radicals and sensitized skin are alleviated to reveal soft, supple and crystal clear skin.

In all honesty, when I stumbled upon this 2 years ago, this to me felt like a dupe of SK-II’s pitera mask (Sake Yeast = Pitera connections), however, I was pleasantly surprised by this soft smelling (no pee yeasty smell) and serum rich mask. Very viscous, rich and easily absorbed into skin, a good 20 minutes with this never fails to leave my skin looking well rested and dewy. I normally run to this during midweek to help soothe and comfort (all this to con the masses into thinking I’m eternally glowing from within) skin and keep it fresh looking till the weekend.

Verdict: Wonderful midweek skin repair sheet mask, this leaves a glow and softness that’s great for weaving the illusion that life is not stressful and work is always within control even though you, the groomie may be crashing inside. Ultra-sensitive skins do proceed with caution as this may sting a little.

Sexy Look Pearl & Jobs Tear Intensive Firming Duo Lifting Mask

7 Sep

I’ve been a little greedy and honestly chips and caffeine have been my constant buddies the past few days while I’ve been typing my articles. Also, my jaded face has been deprived of its regular masking (remember the outbreak of rashes). I look…ashen much to my horror. In times like this, I found myself reaching for my newest impulse purchase the Sexy Look Pearl & Jobs Tear Intensive Firming Duo Lifting Mask.

A 3D mask (refer to my sexy look red whine (pun intended) mask review), this hooked mask smoothens, lifts and illuminates skin with extracts of Pearl, Hyaluronic Acid and Jobs Tears.

Funnily (no I was not giggling in the dead of the night), this mask fits my face nicely unlike the red whine (Pardon me). Nice pleasant sweet scent to this, it seems to hold a much more ample amount of serum without it spurting all over my neck and desk. I must say after a good 20 minutes with this skin looks somewhat revived. Not exactly “I’ve swallowed a light bulb bright” but a “light rosy tinge of health”. It’s a definite step up performer compared to the red whine (Slaps selp, Pardon me).

Verdict: Lifts away dullness and dehydration, consider this mask a skin brightening option.

My Scheming Beauty Crystal Whitening Brightening Eye Mask

5 Sep

I do admit, I’ve been a little eye mask crazy of late as I am still repairing the damages sustained while churning out the September Issue of T3 Singapore. Now this, My Scheming Beauty Crystal Whitening Brightening Eye Mask is like a quick fix solution to my under eye woes.

Enriched with Absorbic Acid, Hyaluronate, Collagen and a bunch of peptides that shall not be mentioned. This jelly eye mask will brighten and whiten up the delicate eye area while erasing signs of fatigue in just 15-25 minutes time.

A clear jelly eye mask that comes unscented. I particularly love the cooling and soothing effects of this jelly eye mask. I honestly found it hard to stay awake with them on! Just position them in place right under the eye, run your index finger over them to lock (it works something like an airtight grip on the eye area) them in place and leave it on for 25 minutes. Size wise, I feel you are getting more bang for your buck as they are wider then The Faceshop’s raspberry roots eye mask and treat a bigger surface area. It does work by flooding the eye area with intense moisture to leave the eye area looking more rested and brighter but if your major concern is about lines I would advise you to steer clear of this one as it is purely a brightening and hydration eye mask.

Verdict: Great for an occasional treat or SOS rescue, this jelly eye mask is simple delightful as its gives eyes that much needed cool down after a particularly grueling week.

Sexy Look Redwine Platinum Intensive Firming Duo Lifting Mask

11 Aug

I must admit the words “Sexy Look” made me whip out the wallet quicker then you could recite “Sexy Look Redwine Platinum Intensive Firming Duo Lifting Mask”. That made particularly no sense at all for an opening but I do admit it can be quite trying thinking of funny things to say all the time whilst I shift through model portfolios and sipping Starbucks. (oh the high life…Kidding!)

Another 3D Sheet mask from Taiwan, its similar in design with the Love More Electric Ore Mask I reviewed earlier. Comes with a set of hooks to adhere and hold the mask in place. With Redwine and Platinum extracts as its selling point, this mask will whip a glow back to dull skin plus enhancing moisture levels and improve skin’s elasticity.

Okay, the scent is a little bit overpowering with this mask and I did wish it had a bit more serum. Putting it on was a bit of a struggle as the mask’s sizing was a little bit small. Hmm…I felt like a boob in a tight bra while I was donning this. A good 20 minutes later (followed with awkward facial contortions to get the circulation back to my face), I am pleased to report that this mask did leave me with puffed up and bouncier skin. But I’m sitting on the fence with this one as I feel it is just a basic mask with average results.

Verdict: It does hydrate pretty well to give skin a “I had drank a gallon of water” glow to it but the scent may throw some Groomies off. Not recommended for big faces, petite sized faces feel free to give this a go.
