SK-II Facial Treatment Advanced Protect Loose Powder UV

1 Nov

I have been into powders lately as the skin’s gotten a little oilier due to the constant climate changes. And yes, although I have been the ambassador for that “soft, dewy and au naturel look, I do find myself crossing that thin fine line from dewy to oily. Anyways Groomies, I’ve ditched the BB creams and have been dusting myself with this SK-II Facial Treatment Advanced Protect Loose Powder UV instead.

A lightly milled loose powder, this gives a long lasting translucent smooth finish to the skin. With patented Spots Clear Powder technology, it helps to absorb sebum while provide excellent wearability too. With SPF 18 PA++, it does aid skin in shielding harmful UV rays while maintaining skin’s fairness.

Firstly, I am a packaging whore and this red and luxurious packaging certainly makes it easier for me to part with my money for it. I ditched patting it on with the powder fluff (which is oh so soft like a baby kitten’s caress, did I actually write that, oh dear me) and used a large powder brush instead. Very finely milled, the trick to using this is pick up a small amount with your powder brush and lightly dot it across your forehead, cheeks and chin before buffing it on. Pretty sweat resistant, I’m very pleased with its long lasting matte finish as it left skin looking very diffused and soft for a good 5 hours. However, do note this powder’s coverage does not conceal blemishes or scars Groomies, its just good enough for evening out skintone and keeping oils at bay.

Verdict: Great for fair skin bitches or pseudo-fair shades (like mine), this high quality loose powder does leave skin looking matte and translucent. However, when used heavily, it does leave you looking a little “memoirs of a geisha”, if you get my drift.

SK-II Facial Treatment Essence

25 Jul

Touted as the “Miracle Water”, I had jumped on the SK-II Facial Treatment Essence bandwagon during the Christmas Season last year (another one of my weak moments as Qi Qi looked so ever glowy and oh I wanted me some of that light.)

Packaged in a nice frosted bottle, this essence contains 90% of SK-II’s Patented Pitera. It works by regulating the skin renewal cycle back to its original condition to allow maximum skin nourishment while balancing Ph levels and sebum secretion to balance out oily and dry areas. It also helps to build up skins wrinkle resilience.

So now, the scent does take a little adjusting to (it smells like pee opps! rice vinegar), feels grainy and watery to touch but gets absorbed into the skin quickly with a few pats over the face. Perhaps it is just me but I out broke out like crazy during the first 7 days (this could be the skin seroconverting to the ingredients). Since I had already taken a dive with this (plus it ain’t cheap groomies) I stubbornly pressed on with this facial essence. Finally the supposed miracle came around the roughly a good 3 weeks time. Lo and behold, I noticed the pimples around the jaw line and cheeks started to subside and there was shrinkage in pore size. Wait, I seem to be illuminating this soft diffused glow which fellow SK II users could relate too. However! Do be prepared to be in for the long hull as I realized skin does revert back to its original state (dull enlarged pores) once you are off the wagon with this one. Also, remember to use moisturizer over this, as it does not hydrate skin.

Verdict: It breathes glow and clarity into skin, Groomies who have skin woes and sins rejoice as this water is truly miraculous in effects.
