Soap&Glory Hand Maid Fresh, Fruity Antibacterial Hand Gel

4 Jan

There seems to be an after party season flu bug going around and being the “germ-a-phobe” I have been keeping my hands well sanitized with this Soap&Glory Hand Maid Fresh, Fruity Antibacterial Hand Gel. Well, good hygiene is also an essential building block in grooming you see…if not I would have labeled this the beauty editor…but I disgress.

A floral and fresh (S&G’s Pink Fragrance to be exact, a floral vanilla-ish peachy scent ) antibacterial hand sanitizer. It contains natural grapefruit extract and XBAC-99 to keep germs at bay and your hands smooth and soft.

Now this is pretty strong stuff. A 5 cent dollop of this left my hands relatively “fresh feeling” and less grimy. The weird thing is I’ve seem to have developed this strange habit of applying this every now and then as it simply does not dry my hands out (remember my more is more theory? This is a good time to apply it). And the Scent! It practically wafted through the office from my cubicle all the way to the gamerboys (well, Playworks Magazine is down the hall) corner. Simply apply a dollop of this, rub both hands vigorously to work it in between your fingers till it absorbs. (Do remember to give this scent a whiff after you are done…its divine!)

Verdict:
Wonderful for those who want to stray away from the usual “hospital scented” or “industrial loo” smelling hand sanitizers, this luxurious smelling and non drying hand gel keeps hands relatively smooth (and Clean!) without drying them out. Great for flu season, don’t ride the public transport/use the office loo without this one.

Soap&Glory You Cube Christmas Gift Box

12 Dec

The bestie Mr M and I were doing our usual pilgrimage to Ion Sephora (truth be told, I was the one who held a knife at his nape, keeping him hostage while I sniff out the deals). The crowd was manic but we were lucky, escaping with nary a stray fingernail scratch from the catty shoppers. Oh yes, got myself 2 boxes of these Soap&Glory You Cube Christmas Gift Box for ahem and ahem. (I don’t kiss and tell, no point stalking my blog, you know who you are hahaha, oh just wait a few weeks more for your gifts).

Pink is the new red and white. (Super Sudsy Shower Puff)

It will be terribly cliché to write that there’s no jack in a box that will pop out spraying confetti at you.
The Soap&Glory You Cube Christmas Gift Box contains a four piece travel sized collection of their best bath and body products plus a super sudsy Shower Puff.

Travel sized wonders for converting potential Soap&Glory-holics.

What’s in the box? Let yours truly break it down for you. Do note that the four products are scented with the patented S&G Original Pink fragrance. (This means its great for layering on). Lets imagine we are in the shower groomies..on second thought lets not go there. Ahem*. There’s the Clean on Me shower Gel (which I had reviewed) for cleansing the body, Flake Away body polish for smoothing and exfoliating rough bits for dewy and softer skin and The Righteous Butter (just click on the word for my previous review) for intense body hydration. The hands are not forgotten too as a tube of Hand Food is thrown in the gift box to keep leathery handshakes at bay.

Verdict:
A great way to introduce someone to the Soap&Glory range of products and honestly get this giftset as the box feels weighty and looks luxurious as oppose to a wicker basket of (insert whatever random soap or handcream).

Soap & Glory The Righteous Butter

29 Nov

As you guys probably know by now, I am a soap & glory-holic and I have been slathering myself with their Soap & Glory The Righteous Butter (or the righteous B. as I affectionately call it) nightly during this rainy/cold season to keep my scales tamed and dryness at bay.

Scented with Soap&Glory’s Original Pink fragrance and with ingredients like softening shea butter and aloe vera, this body butter enriches skin and leaves it velvety smooth and plumped out.

Slathered on liberally after a good post shower, this thick and rich body butter left my skin feeling super hydrated and dewy looking. Like a sponge that’s been filled with water, like a glass that’s filled with wine, like a cotton pad that’s soaked with toner (you get the picture don’t you?) I admit I was baffled how something so thick can be absorbed into my skin so well (I’m not that parched…looks away in shame) but it does impart a very “silky” and smooth sensation once it sinks in. Scent wise, I find it to be a great product to layered on after Soap&Glory’s Clean on Me as they both are scented with the Original Pink Fragrance (which is a peachy vanilla fragrance).

Verdict: Lush feeling skin hydrating butter in a tub, great body hydrator, skin re-plumper and glow inducer. Skip the fragrance diffuser while you are using this as it scents up the sheets for days. Good luck resisting the urge to lick/bite yourself after.

Soap & Glory Sit Tight

21 Nov

Its manic season at the T3 office, and I have been naughty with my exercise regime. Now do excuse me groomies, its tiring having to work from 10am to 4am daily (its been two weeks of hell but oh do stay tuned for our Xmas issue. Opps did I actually whore out my publication in the midst of this review?). Well, I’m glad I purchased this a good 2 months back for emergencies like this no exercise dry spell. The Soap and Glory Sit Tight.

A silhouette shaping balm that firms up the lower body, it contains a heating PRESSOCAPSULAR FIRM SYSTEM that is loaded with caffeine and Detoxyboost (an active that promotes circulation). Just massage this in daily in the mornings, don your clothes and sit to let the heat and movement work its magic.

After a good shower in the mornings (not going into the graphic details), I knead and pummel a good twenty-cent dollop of this into each thigh and butt cheek. Spreads easily and oh do avoid your privates with this one as it does heat up and you get the picture). Do take a good minute to frolic in your undies (and let the cream set) before donning some pants as this may flake (it happened to a colleague of mine whom shall not be named). I normally use this in the day and the “Slimwear” at night to keep my figure in my jeans…

Verdict: It is potent in draining away excess water and puffiness in the lower region (thighs and bum for those who’s minds are always in the gutter). My personal “keeps me in my jeans” quick fix product for the moment, great to grab for lazy bums who just want to “sit tight” without breaking a sweat.

Soap & Glory Clean on Me Creamy Clarifying Shower Gel

18 Aug

If I ever had to choose a product that was made to leave skin glowing and fresh from the Soap & Glory range it would definitely be Soap & Glory Clean on Me Creamy Clarifying Shower Gel.

A shower gel that clarifies and cleanses, Clean on me also has a built in moisturiser so skin is left gleaming and glowing after with a gentle wafting scent of peachy vanilla to scent up the deal.

Packaged in retro Soap & Glory pump packaging, I personally enjoy the “clean” feeling this shower gel gives me; the peachy vanilla (it does remind me of a subdued Coco Mademoiselle) isn’t that overpowering neither does this feel extremely drying to the skin after a good shower. Three pumps is all it took to work up a beautiful lather, I swear this would last me forever as it has already been a good month since I’ve used this and so far I’ve only managed to hit mid bottle. It is my new “skip a bodybuttering now and then” shower gel. Perhaps its just me, but I do notice skin does seem more even toned when I shower with this.

Verdict: Even toned skin? (Clean Girls!), Want to hit the sheets after a shower asap? (Clean Girls!), Want value for money but still want it to look expensive in your shower rack? (Clean Girls!).

Soap & Glory Catch A Wrinkle In Time Age Avoiding Day Moisturizer

8 Jul

I am not always into atas-y (expensive) skincare neither do I scoff at moisturizers that are slightly below the line, as I found myself pleased with this budget friendly product. I had gotten myself a little tube of this Soap & Glory Catch A Wrinkle In Time Age Avoiding Day Moisturiser as an impulse “perk myself up after being bitch slapped by the editors” purchase.

Touted as the much easier solution compared to getting a facelift, Catch a Wrinkle is a deep sinking, light textured day cream that contains Palmitoyle Tripeptide-5 (smooths lines and stimulate collagen) and Moisture Matrix (injects skin with moisture for 8-12 hours quoted on their website).

I am smoothing this chocolately orangey scented cream on(reminds me of a childhood Vanhouten orange chocolate, shoot me! I think I just betrayed my age) while typing this review. It has a slight buttery feel out of the tube but that’s good as a cashew nut sized (laugh! I am trying to be different here) amount is all I need to moisturize my face and neck. It may feel greasy at first but that goes away after while once the cream sinks (Do leave aside 30 secs for this, go blow-dry your hair to maximize time usage). I can’t really vouch for its anti aging effects but it does lessen fine lines by plumping them from within almost instantly. A good one for those using mineral makeup or loose powder  as it does help catch the pigments onto skin like a magnet.

Soap & Glory Catch A Wrinkle In Time Age Avoiding Day Moisturizer retails at S$25 (if I recall its priced around there, someone hand me the gingko nuts for my memory) at all Sephora Beauty Stores.

Verdict: A very hydrating good performing moisturizer for the day, it comes in a hygienic tube that’s convenient for the jet setting / gym bunny groomie. Comes with sun filters too (although I would advise using a proper sunscreen over this, more is always good) to help ward and protect skin from the nasty sun rays.

Soap & Glory The Daily Smooth Dry Skin Formula Body Butter

28 Jun

An alligator smiled at me last month. Oh all right I admit that yours truly had let myself go when it came to body care. Dramatic drumroll, I had forgotten to moisturize my body for a good month due to …ugh I should stop finding excuses. Hence I got myself a tube of this Soap & Glory The Daily Smooth Dry Skin Formula Body Butter to reverse the alligator hide I’ve been wearing.

A thick and rich body butter formulated for dry sahara-ish skins, this promises to dew skin with moisture with ingredients like Rosehip Seed Oil and Cocoa Butter plus it’s scented with the Mist You Madly scent that I love. I used this after showing with Clean, Girls and applied this body butter after. Mark my words, this body butter is really thick in consistency (industrial strength moisturization as I term it) and it took a good while for the butter to sink in. It does leave a slight sticky residue so do massage it in thoroughly. However the amazing part of this butter is I could practically see my skin glow (funny visions of leaves sprouting on a dead branch) by itself once my skin drank this up and it feels absolutely amazingly soft in the morning. One setback is I wished it came in a jar or tub to make dispensing this easier as I find myself playing “catch the tube” due to the slippery richness of the body butter.

Verdict: Industrial strength body butter for dry skins, it doubles up as a good room fragrance too as the Mist You Madly scent lingers till the morning. Word of caution though, I recommend this for night time as groomies will probably find themselves skidding along sidewalks and trains due gravity defying lubrication when used in the day.

Soap & Glory Clean, Girls Skin Softening Creamy Body Wash

13 Jun

“Hi my name is Kenny, I am a grooming editor and a Soap&Glory-holic.”
“Hi Kenny”

Lately, I can’t stop finding excuses to run to the bathroom to indulge in a little cleaning with Soap & Glory Clean, Girls Skin Softening Creamy Body Wash. I decided to pretend I’m in a self help group in a bid to work my way out of the current state of addiction I’m in.

The packaging is basic and hygienic with a pink pump dispenser, the body wash lathers luxuriously on a shower puff (the shower puff is the ever smart groomer’s must have as it exfoliates, gets circulation going while making sure dirt is really sloughed off). I personally enjoy the scent of this body wash as its laced with Soap & Glory’s Mist You Madly Scent (do go down to Sephora for a whiff of this). Oh well, its smells like a vanilla-ish orangey musk. Very sexy and invigorating, I can’t really decide what state of mind I should be in while I am showering.

Conflicting emotions aside, my skin feels smooth and healthy after this (definitely the moisturizing matrix thingy they formulated it with working), minus that filmy feeling I would get from moisturizing washes. I would describe it as bouncy and soft. Side note, my bestie shaves her legs with this as it provides one of the smoothest glides ever for her razor.

Verdict: A powerful and luxurious spa worthy treat packaged in a understated pump bottle. This definitely does more then clean, girls!

Soap & Glory Slimwear Slenderizing Body Balm

4 Jun

I am okay with loose change, loose clothing but loose skin is a no no when it comes to body loving. I swore my thighs were literally applauding myself with every step I was making as they desperately clung onto my curvy frame since then I have been on a never-ending quest to keep my weight down and had purchased Soap & Glory Slimwear Slenderizing Body Balm during my monthly pilgrimages to Sephora.

Packaged in a pink tube, this peppermint/spearmint scented green balm helps to depuff, reduce the appearance of stretch marks and cellulite while firming the contours of your body. I squeezed about an almond sized dollop of this cream, took a deep breath and started massaging the wobbly areas of my thighs and bum. I definitely felt it working as the balm did start to tingle (fingers crossed). It’s a rather thick consistency and requires a little bit more effort for it to be absorbed.

After a good 3 days of kneading and pinching, I am pleased to say this product is a godsend as my butt and thighs were a little uplifted and firmer. (The grooming editor’s mother purchased this balm after seeing me a week later).

Verdict: To be truthful, the cellulite and wobbly bits are still there (although a little lightened and firmer), but at least; the “thigh” applause sounds like a pair of gloves have muffled it a little.

Soap and Glory’s Sexy Mother™ Pucker XL Extreme-Plump Lipgloss

26 May

Hello dear readers, incase you are wondering what happened to my usual product reviews do not worry, everyone meet Stella, one of the models who was gracing my magazine as the Gadget girl, hair and makeup done by yours truly.

Note her lips, notice how full and succulent they are? Let me let you in on a little shiny secret.

I don’t mean to be rude but Soap and Glory’s Sexy Mother Pucker XL Extreme-Plump is the magic behind those oh so full and luscious lips featured above. I chanced upon it while browsing at Sephora with my colleague during our lunch breaks (skincare feeds me more). Touted as “not for the meek of mouth”, this lipgloss will plump lips and its to be used alone or on top of your usual lipstick.

Well, being the product junkie I am, I had left my usual tin of Bobbi Browns lipbalm at home and dabbed a little of this gloss as a substitute. I find it tastes of chocolate toffees (It took immense will power not to lick the whole tube dry), goes on smoothly leaving a subtle shimmer and gloss (Stella was wearing the mother pucker (oh my) alone in the shot if you seek a reference). I finally understood the meaning behind not for the weak of mouth, the product started tingling and buzzing that my lips were practically vibrating! But it somehow breathed life into my usual medium sized deflated lips giving me a visible cupid’s bow and fuller lower lips.

Verdict: The tube looks pretty, the contents yummy, fuller lips and a visible cupid’s bow, whats not to like about it. It also doubles up as a great lip balm if you don’t have one on hand. Use sparingly please!
