THE FACESHOP Natural Sun AQ Power Long-lasting Sun Cream SPF45 PA+++

17 Apr

Something old, not so new, something I bought and it’s gold too. Pardon the random opening; I’ve been having a little writer’s block. As the afternoon sun has been really unkind of late, today’s review is all about THE FACESHOP Natural Sun AQ Power Long-lasting Sun Cream SPF45 PA+++.

Loving the lightweight but creamy texture

Touted as a 24hr sun block, it contains the super antioxidant Acaiberry to help fight against external aggressors. Light on skin, it’s waterproof and feather light texture helps disperse harmful UV rays with the Optimum Disperse System.

I must admit this sun block is quite different from the usual ones I’ve tried, usual meaning too matte, too watery, too powdery etc. It has the consistency of a cream but blends out to a very light finish. Why it even helps even out my skin tone and allows BB cream to adhere on even better. Infact, I found myself skipping BB cream altogether with this (just a light dusting of my Bobbi Brown Powder) as it seems to give skin that nice even brightened hue on it’s own.

Verdict:
Good sun protection cream and makeup base coupled into one stellar product, this lightweight marvel certainly ticks all the boxes in terms of effectiveness as skin did not turn red or burnt while I commuted to work nor did it slide off leaving me looking all white and pasty.

The Face Shop White Tree Snow Vita Lightening Serum

9 Jan

Temperatures seem to be soaring here once again. I for one have been lovingly caressed a shade darker thanks to the wonderful afternoon sun.  To aid my skin in retaining its shade of tea I have been layering The Face Shop’s White Tree Snow Vita Lightening Serum nightly for fair-surance (insurance for fairness…geddit geddit?)

A brightening and whitening serum, it keeps skin looking even toned and bright while removing dead skin cells with the goodness of 9 vitamins and milk protein. A sample sized tub of the vita moisturizer is included too when you purchase the serum (screams value for money to me).

Lovely packaging; it comes in a pretty kaolin glass bottle and dispenses the serum with a springy pump. In my honest opinion, this is perhaps one of the most potent whitening serums I’ve ever used as my skin looked brighter within a week of usage. Lightly textured, it sank into my skin really quickly without any oily sheen. Perhaps its me (or my fussy skin) or the acidic nature of this product, this did break me out slightly around the cheek area when used nightly but the problem subsided once I switched to using this on alternate nights.

Verdict:
This potent whitening serum is a good option if you wish to brighten up quickly. Do layer a separate hydrating serum underneath this, as it does not provide adequate hydration. Sensitive skin types do try out a sample of this as it seems pretty acidic in nature.
