Tony Moly Tomatox Brightening Mask

9 Apr

Oh looky what I found hidden beyond the drawers of desire. (I am ashamed of my personal hoarding habits). The Tony Moly Tomatox Brightening Mask (circa early 2011 when I was into oxygenated products, think BLISS oxygen mask…).

Creamy white mask with red beads
(I think their oxygen capsules or some delivery agent. Oh my poor head hurts.)

A wash off brightening mask made with tomato and vegetable extracts, it imparts skin with a brighten appearance by infusing it with a generous
supply of oxygen.

Smells nothing like a tomato, I applied this slight applish sourish concoction onto my freshly cleansed face and left it for a good 5 minutes. Now at midpoint (around two mins, for those who nitpick every single detail), I felt a slight tingling sensation (it’s working it’s working, my instant gratification self said), not too uncomfortable but let’s just say I practically grinned like a hyena throughout the whole 5 mins.

(Washes face with lukewarm water)

I have to be honest with you, this mask does give skin a whiteout glow but it’s a product I would term as “The Cinderella Complex”, meaning the results are only temporary as skin soon reverted to it’s natural shade of dung after a good 6 hours. Also, I seem to have developed a mild spot with this although my sister (hisses…) loves this and seems to have escaped unscathed with this product.

Verdict:
Great for special occasions or days where you had the glow punched out of you. This tingly mask does brighten and even out ruddy skintones for a good 6 hours. However, I do advice patch testing this before purchasing, as it does not agree with sensitive and acne-prone skin types.

Tony Moly Eggpore Silky Smooth Balm

24 Oct

I had ran out of my idealist and am cash strapped lately due to my over indulgence in buying a bunch of Naruko Stuff to try (do I hear short panting abated breaths of excitement?). Well, in its place, I am currently using this Tony Moly Eggpore Silky Smooth Balm to conceal pores and I must admit I’ve become a big fan.

Packaged in a cute golden egg, this lightweight pore concealer also clears out blackheads and residue from pores with camella and egg ingredients.

More of a cosmetic product then skincare product, I find it a little silicony balmy in texture but it spreads over the skin surface like aah-maz-ing-ly smooth. Used above my L’Oreal SPF, I find it does mattify my face while allowing BB cream to adhere longer to the skin surface. No breakouts with this one, I must stress that one must be light handed with this pore concealer as too much may leave a distasteful waxy feel on the face. Oh its also great on fine lines too as it seems to blur them out beautifully by filling up the gaps between the wrinkles.

Verdict: Great as mattifying and smoothing makeup base, it also works wonders in filling in deep acne scars and enlarged pores prior to BB cream application. However, this has no SPF built in so do slather one underneath before applying this.

Tony Moly Acerola Natural Pulp Essence Sheet Mask

10 Oct

Did I fail to mention that I am in camp as this is being published? Yes. I am in camp. Obviously this post has been pre-scheduled for you reading pleasure. Yes indeed. Anyway, just a quick recommendation for those who enjoy sheeting ( Its an insider joke term for sheet masking) in the day, the Tony Moly Acerola Natural Pulp Essence Sheet Mask is a great choice for jump starting tired out morning skin.

A mask that is rich in Acerola extract (the extract contains an ample rich amount of Vitamin C) to keep skin supple and revitalized. Skin also enjoys the rich and powerful antioxidant properties which help it guard against premature aging and harmful free radicals.

Lightly scented with a berry-cherry fragrance, this mask is one of the lighter but serum rich masks I normally use on a Sunday morning. Applied directly after my clarifying lotion (btw, its from clinique, review coming soon), I normally leave this cooling mask on for 15 minutes before patting in the residual serum left on the skin. In my opinion, this mask is your man (or woman) for giving uneven toned or dull skin a quick “bright me up” as my face does look brighter after a go with this. All that’s needed is a hydrating moisturizer, some sun block and a swirl of powder after this mask and I’m out of the door.

Verdict: It’s light texture and brightening effects makes it a great mask for daytime use. My only gripe with this product is the sheet mask can be a little small in size and does not adhere well on larger faces.

Tony Moly Berry Berry Nutriwhite Skin Toner

23 Aug

I have been using this Tony Moly Berry Berry Nutriwhite Skin Toner as part of my morning skincare rituals. My friend Cheryl(God bless her soul) had cashed purchased this as a gift for me during another one of her Korean skincare hauls.

This whitening toner floods skin with powerful antioxidants (Supercritical Berry Complex and Super Food Ingredients) to restore radiance and brightness to the skin. It also contains Arbutin, to help boost skin translucency and glow while aiding the whitening process.

After a good cleanse, I usually soak up a cotton pad with this toner. Pretty thick in texture, it smells similar to the Tony Moly Berry Berry facial wash (i love me some candy anytime). As I have been using this with the Hada Labo cleanser, this does alleviate tightness and soften the skin after a few swipes. As for the brightening effects, I find that applying this using swift patting motions after swiping does leave skin looking visibly brighter and dewy. No irritations encountered so far with this. (Fingers crossed.)

Verdict: it’s easy to be fooled by its sweet scent but this is a pretty good toner as it does brighten up the skin and acts as a good prep for softening the skin prior to serum application.

Tony Moly Berry Berry Nutrivive Cleansing Foam

22 Jun

One of my most abused cleansers for the past month, I finally hit the farting point (that awkward sound when its finished) last night with my Tony Moly Berry Berry Nutrivive Cleansing Foam. I had gotten a tube of this when my friend journeyed to the K (Korea) last year and cashed in this item for me as part of my 80-dollar Tony Moly Beauty Fund.

A smooth and rich foaming cleanser that removes makeup and impurities, it contains Berry Complex to help maintain skin’s elasticity and health while keeping it soft and moisturized. It comes in a peachy orange hued tube and smells oh so diabetic inducing sweet like those grape berry candies (Sugus candy anyone? Or am I betraying my age here?).

I normally massage an almond sized amount of this into the face, texture is pretty good actually as it gives a good slip to help fingers smooth over the skin without dragging it. No tightness after a good rinse, skin feels comfortable to touch and it passed the “no breakouts” benchmark for me. Regards to its makeup removing claims, a double cleanse was needed to remove light spf and bbcream completely.

Verdict: For the young and young at heart, this cleanser will get all the junk and gunk out effectively. Mature skins are advised to stay away from this product, as it may be a tad bit too dry. Recommended for groomies with oily and combination skin.

The Body Shop Seaweed Pore-Cleansing Facial Exfoliator / Tony Moly Puretox Cleansing Tissue

7 Jun

After suffering from an outbreak due to slathering and reviewing one too many rich creams, I decide to slough away all the damage by hunting for a good facial scrub. I seldom use items from The Body Shop apart from their body butters (which I adore) but Seaweed Pore-Cleansing Facial Exfoliator caught my eye with its minimalist packaging and non-invasive scent (smells like the beach!).

It feels quite abrasive (not in a S&m kinda way) and contains jojoba beads and olive stone granules but its good because I have combination skin that tends to clog and trap dirt. After rinsing the scrub, skin feels amazingly soft and smooth. No stinging or discomfort! Oh did I forget to mention my face was looks pretty balanced and dewy? I will probably stick to this like glue till something else comes along to sweep me off my feet.

I am also loving this Tony Moly Puretox Cleansing Tissue so much. I was given a packet to try by my friend and it is great for a quick fix cleanup at the end of the day. It wipes off BB cream and sunscreen cleanly minus the stinging feeling one would get from the usual makeup removal tissues. A good one for after work, when I need to wipe away that horrid sheen of oil (and the shame of being labeled a grease pot) and give myself a fresh clean appearance prior to attending events. Just wipe, moisturize and a reapplication of BB cream later and I am good to go.
